TLS Upgrade

What's Happening

On May 31, 2018 Denver Community Credit Union will be disabling its support of the Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 encryption protocol in favor of TLS 1.1 or higher. TLS is a security protocol that provides privacy and data integrity between two communicating applications.  Upgrading to TLS 1.1 or higher means data sent between applications is safer and more secure.  The security of your information is our number one priority and it is the main driver behind this disablement.

How It Impacts You

Members who currently access Denver Community's online and/or mobile banking services on operating systems or browsers that do not support TLS 1.1 or higher may lose access to some or all online and mobile banking services.

What To Do

Please check that your electronic devices are updated to support TLS 1.1 or higher.

Users operating on Android version KitKat (4.4) and lower, may be impacted by the disablement of TLS 1.0 as these versions do not support TLS 1.1 and 1.2.  Please upgrade to Lollipop (5.0) or higher to fix this support issue.

Please reference the list of browser versions that support TLS 1.1 and higher below.  If you are using a browser version that is lower than those listed, please upgrade to a newer version.  The following internet browsers are suitable for supporting TLS 1.1 or higher.

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE): Version 11 or higher
  • Microsoft Edge - all versions
  • Mozilla Firefox: Version 27 or higher
  • Google Chrome: Version 38 or higher
  • Desktop Safari: Versions 7 or higher for OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) and higher (7)
  • Mobile Safari: Versions 5 and higher for iOS 5 and higher

Q: Why is Denver Community making this change?
A: TLS aimes to provide privacy and data integrity between two communicating applications.  TLS 1.1 and above provide significantly higher security controls than TLS 1.0.  Protecting your data is very important to us, and this disablement will allow us to better ensure the security of your information.

Q: What happens if I don't upgrade my browser or mobile operating system by May 31, 2018?
A: On May 31, 2018, TLS 1.0 will be disabled.  Once disabled, all traffic will be directed through TLS 1.1.  If you do not upgrade you will be presented with a page stating that "Stronger Security is Required."  If the browser or operating system is not upgraded to support TLS 1.1 or higher, you will be unable to access Denver Community's online or mobile banking services.

Q: How do I know if I need to upgrade my browser or operating system?
A: Check with your device manufacturere to see what operating system your device is currently on.  You can also check your browser TLS "score" by visiting this website.  You may also check if your current browser has already disabled support of TLS 1.0 by visiting this website.
