Denver Community Supports Denver Public Library Friends Foundation

Denver Community Credit Union linked up the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation with a $500 #500ForGood grant from the FHLB-Topeka to go towards purchasing children’s books.  On March 4th, 2021, Denver Community Credit Union presented the DPL Friends Foundation with the $500 check.  The books purchased through this grant will be distributed to local children via the library’s book mobile, and meal distribution sites.  Denver Community staff had a hand in selecting some of the books donated by nominating titles that were meaningful to them.  Titles that were selected included:
  • The Rainbow Fish. by Marcus Pfister
  • Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, by Judith Viorst
  • Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak
  • Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr. Seuss
  • Bear Snores On, by Karma Wilson
  • The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle
  • Llama Llama Red Pajama, by Anna Dewdney
  • The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend, by Dan Santat
  • Chicka Chicka Boom B00m, by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault
  • Magic Tree House, by Mary Pope Osborne

The library also used the funds to purchase new books with diverse representation of children and different cultures.
