People Helping People

Our resolve to give back to this great community has not wavered during this crisis.

Feeding Coloradans in Need

Metro Caring is a longstanding partner of Denver Community Credit Union. Our staff of 95 volunteered 140 hours with them and donated 1,930 pounds to their organization in 2019 alone. Starting out as a food bank, they now offer services that address the root causes of hunger, including job-readiness coaching, financial education, and utilities assistance.

Tote Bag Donation for Food Bank

We donated 450 tote bags to Metro Caring in April. They are serving triple the people they did before the pandemic—300 households per day. Those tote bags were used by community members receiving much needed nutritious food.

Metro Caring Grant

We were able to assist Metro Caring in purchasing an electric pallet jack with the support of the Mountain West Credit Union Foundation. Metro Caring unloads, sorts, and stocks an average of 20,000 lbs. of food every day. Last week alone, they distributed 81,260 lbs. of food to 2,927 community members in need of nourishment. The equipment is helping Metro Caring staff do their work more safely while maintaining social distancing. Thank you for all that you do, Metro Caring! Volunteerism Is in our DNA

Our staff have logged over 270 volunteer hours at many local nonprofit organizations so far in 2020. We continue to find innovative ways to contribute even while most of our staff are staying at home.

Supporting Medical Personnel

We wanted to say “Thank you” to medical staff during National Nurses Week. Our staff gave beautiful cards, some hand drawn or crafted, and delicious baked goods to the nurses of Craig Hospital.

Financial Education

We have provided free community-based financial education for nonprofits, schools, libraries, municipal agencies, and businesses in our community since 2005. While in-person classes have been canceled, we continue to provide financial education and coaching remotely.
