July 2013

July 7:

Our great partners at Rocky Mountain MicroFinaince Institute hosted a Boot Camp Class at our community room. The class allowed each Boot Camper to present an entire Business Plan and a loan pitch to the audience for the event.


July 16:

On-site classes and events held through our Clear Money Program included our Wills & Trust presentation hosted by Frank Danzo of Chayet & Danzo.


July 18:

Denver Community Credit Union, once again, dropped by the Civic Center Park to host a booth for the Civic Center Eats event.

The Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce had their second Art Gallery opening located at the chamber office which provided a great opportunity to network while viewing the paintings and artworks from one of the attendees.


July 24:


Denver Community got to host a booth at Mi Casa’s Business Resource Fair which allowed clients that were starting a business to network with other organizations to gather information that can help jump-start their business.

June 2013

June 6-29:

Off-site classes hosted through the month of June were held at West High School, Warren Village, Mi Casa, and Z-Place at Lowry Family Center.


June 4, 18:

On-site classes and events held through our Clear Money Program included a presentation called “Go-To-Market Strategies” hosted by Bryan Kimbell of Brand Folder and Stacey Saggese of Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute.  Denver Community also hosted our Money Makeover class where over 50 people came in attendance to learn about important budgeting tips.


June 20-25:

Our community partners continued to host many different events throughout the month of June that we attended as well.  These events included Golden Triangle Association’s Third Thursdays at Colefusion, Denver Public Library’s Business Breakfast, and Aurora Chamber’s Women of Business Luncheon all provided wonderful opportunities to network with business leaders and other associates throughout the community.


June 1:

Denver Community Credit Union was invited to participate in the 4th Annual Safe Summer Kick Off Resource Fair at Kepner Middle School through the City and County of Denver.  Over 50 private and public community organizations had participated with nearly 350 people in attendance. Special guest included a few of the Denver Nuggets' Dancers. 


June 6-8:

The Denver Public Library kicked off their annual Book Fair at their location and Denver Community Credit Union hosted a booth while also being a sponsor for the event. 

June 13:

The Civic Center Conservancy hosts their Annual Civic Center Eats celebration where various food trucks come down to Civic Center Park to serve food.  Denver Community Credit Union got the opportunity to host a booth with other organizations for the first month of the event.

June 29:

The Denver Housing Authority kicked off their 2nd Annual Homeownership Fair and Denver Community was there as well with a booth, along with other diverse set of partner agencies, to inform attendees about how we provide various resources and services in the greater Denver area and foster advancement in education and economic standing.

May 2013


May 6-23:

Denver Community Credit Union taught financial education classes at several locations from DHS, Denver School of Science and Tech, and Colorado African Organization.  These classes and topics included discussions about credit, budgeting and saving money, and the basics of banking.


May 14:

Our monthly Clear Money Event “Home Buying Resource Night” was hosted at our credit union for members and other individuals who were looking to connect with local homeownership resources to help them with the home buying process.


May 18:

We hosted our semi-annual car sale event at our Downtown Branch location.  This was an event we host twice every year with our partners at AutoTrek.  We clear our parking lots and stock up to 100 different vehicles for our Credit Union Members to test drive and purchase while we grilled and served free hot dogs. 


May 23:

Our partners of the Office of Economic Development hosted their annual Small Business Expo at the Denver Public Library.  This event included twenty three different vendors,from a wide array of public and nonprofit organizations who offer small business-building services.  Also included was a lenders’ panel which included various public, private and nonprofit financing options to advise existing and aspiring entrepreneurs on landing the dollars they need to keep their business going.


May 16:

Our partners at Mosaic, which is an organization that provides assistance for individuals with intellectual disabilities, hosted their annual luncheon and fundraiser known as Partner’s in Possibilities.  Denver Community Credit helped sponsored the event as a way to show our support for Mosaic’s mission and were also in attendance for the luncheon.


May 31:

The Children’s Museum held their 40th Annual Birthday Bash Celebration which included a live silent auction for many great prizes and giveaways.  Denver Community was invited to take part in working with the organization in preparing for and attending the event.  The auction acknowledged former Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl, who was also at the event, for his continued support for The Denver Children’s Museum.

April 2013

Apr. 3-30:

Denver Community Credit Union continued our outreach program throughout the community with financial education classes for partners such as Mi Casa, West High School, and Rocky Mountain Micro Finance Institute.  The classes and topics taught for this month at these off-site locations included credit, money myths, and budgeting. 


There were also several classes and events hosted at Denver Community Credit Union in conjunction with National Financial Literacy Month.   These classes and events included Financial Aid for Higher Education, Wills & Trusts, Credit, and Personal Finance Resource Day.


Apr. 9, 18:

Money Smart Colorado along with Jump$tart had hosted their Colorado Kick-Off event at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City where we got to meet with former and new local partners.   

Next, Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute had their bi-annual Bootcamp Graduation at the Walnut Street Tavern in Downtown Denver. The graduation was a ceremony for the students that jump started their small businesses through RMMFI and had successfully completed the program.

West High School hosted mock interviews for their students as a means to prepare them for the process of job interviewing.  One of the representatives of Denver Community Credit Union had the chance to assist the staff with the interviews and give feedback to the students that participated. Below were thank you notes sent from the students that had participated in the Mock Interviews.


Apr. 11-25:

Our partners at the City and County of Denver hosted several events that Denver Community got the opportunity to support in attendance.  The Self-Care Fair, hosted at the Denver Human Services Center, was an event that let the staff of DHS come by to visit different organizations that provided information about health and self-betterment.

Next, was a celebration to commemorate Earth Day with the Denver Earth Day Fair hosted at the Denver Webb Building.


Finally, City and County hosted Bring Your Child to Work Day at its three locations which were the Webb Building and the two Denver Human Services locations.

March 2013

March 4-27:

Denver Community Credit Union had continued its outreach program with financial education classes through Denver Human Services, Mile High United Way, Warren Village, Operation Hope, and through a few new companies we connected with such as Bridge Project and Binning Foundation.


March 12:

Our first Business Solutions Night event took place at our credit union as an open house event for individuals looking to connect and network with others for small business advice and other expertise.


March 7, 13, 28:

There were a few networking events with chamber committee partners that Denver Community Credit Union attended.  The Aurora Chamber of Commerce hosted its afterhours meet up at Aloft Hotels near Denver International Airport, The Metro North Chamber hosted an expo ribbon-cutting ceremony for El Jardin Mexican Restaurant in Commerce City, and The Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce Art Gallery and Wine Tasting event at the Women’s Chamber of Commerce. 


March 13:

The monthly Northeast Collaborative Meeting, hosted through our partners at Lowry Family Center, was an invite for all local organizations, similar to Denver Community Credit Union, to discuss and connect with other local organizations around the Northeast Denver and Aurora area for ways to collaborate and build partnerships.


March 27:

Denver Community Credit Union hosted a booth at Mi Casa’s Resource & Networking Event which allowed us to network with other financial lenders and individual small business owners.

February 2013

Feb. 1-25:

Throughout the month of February, Denver Community Credit Union had a host of classes out in the community with partners like Warren Village, Mile High United Way, Denver Human Services, and Mi Casa Resource Center


Feb. 5:

Mile High Business Alliance also had their Annual New Year Soiree kickoff, held at Shift Workspaces, to discuss past and future plans for the company and praised the committed partners who have continuously worked with the organization for the past year.



Feb. 20:

Denver Community hosted its Annual Meeting, where members were invited to meet and ask questions of their volunteer Board of Directors and management of the credit union. 


Feb. 6, 26:

We hosted two Clear Money events at our main branch which were Personal Finance Resource Night and a Wills & Trusts seminar.   Frank Danzo of Chayet & Danzo was graceful enough to teach our Wills & Trusts Class and our Personal Finance Resource Night allowed members to connect with local financial resources.

January 2013

Jan. 8-29:

Denver Community Credit Union got the year started off with a few community outreach events and classes and presentations through DHA, Solonco, and West High School.  Topics covered were information about the credit union difference, financial goal setting workshops, and budget games with students


Jan. 15:

The Golden Triangle Association hosted their Annual Meeting at Galvanize, discussing updates and other news pertaining to the Golden Triangle Neighborhood.  Local residents, business owners, council representatives, and law enforcement officials within the Golden Triangle area spoke as well.


Jan. 16, 30:

The Aurora Chamber of Commerce sponsored the “Annual State of the Base Luncheon” which included discussions on last year’s activities at the Buckley Air Force base. 


Denver Office of Strategic Partnerships hosted their Annual Partner Celebration and Open House.  While there, we got the opportunity to connect and network with nonprofit City & County agencies.

Jan. 17:

We participated with Money Smart Colorado at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City to meet and network with colleagues that share our passion for personal financial literacy. 


Jan. 24:

Denver Community hosted a booth at The Martin Luther King Jr. College for their Family and Youth Event, which included a night of performances from students and staff of MLK Jr. College as well as a guest speaker appearance from Kathie J of KS107.5. 

The Washington Park Whole Foods Market also showed their support to Denver Community for the first time by allowing us to host a booth to interact with staff about credit union information and services.


Jan. 30:

In coordination with West High School, students were invited for the chance to tour the facility of Denver Community Credit Union’s downtown branch.
