On April 23rd, members, partners, and employees gathered at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum to celebrate Denver Community Credit Union's 80th Annual Meeting. It was a night full of fun, food, and community. We thank everyone who joined us, as well as our sponsors: 1st Mortgages, Auto Aves, Cuna Mutual, Credit Union Direct Connect (CUDC), mpowered, LPL Financial, and Credit Union Service Network (CUSN). Denver Community Credit Union used our 80th Annual Meeting as an opportunity to raise money to support the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation. Members paid a $5 entry fee. Proceeds from ticket sales went to the Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation. Donations were also accepted at the event. Denver Community matched all donations which brought total donations to $6,400.
Our 80th Annual Meeting featured an update for members on the financial performance of the credit union, as well as a presentation by the Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation champion family. Concern for community is one of the core cooperative principles of credit unions. 2014 Miracle Marathon
Denver Community Credit Union staff participated in the 2014 Miracle Marathon as a team. The Miracle Marathon is a fundraising campaign benefiting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. For 27.2 days, participants move one mile of forward movement, or exercise for 20 minutes. While a normal marathon is 26.2 miles, the Miracle Marathon is extra special with an extra mile for the kids. During the Marathon, staff raised $3,479 for Children's Hospital Colorado, and moved 906 miles! What an achievement! Check out our staff's participation in the Miracle Marathon on our Pinterest page.

It was a beautiful day on August 9th for our 2014 Back to School Fair! We were joined by local community partners to bring a meaningful, family-fun experience to our members, and we were also able to provide back to school supplies to participants. We were joined by mpowered, Denver Health, Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation, Denver Police Explorers, Z-Ultimate Aurora, Denver Public Library, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver, CUDC, Denver Art Museum, Family Star Montessori and Rockie Mountain Farmer's Union. Each of our partners provided a fun activity for kids to participate in to earn their back to school supplies.
We are proud to say that our 2014 Back to School Fair served over 500 people, including almost 300 kids who received a drawstring backpack with school supplies! Be sure to be on the look out for next year's Back to School Fair!
Denver Community Credit Union was a proud sponsor of the 2014 Aurora Arts Festival on June 28th. The Aurora Arts Festival gathered local artists and performers at Fletcher Plaza. This year's theme was "Recycle and Upcycle art - ReUp!" Several of the artists created beautiful works of art out of everyday household items. It was a great day for the community of Aurora filled with family-friendly fun. The Aurora Arts Festival is put on by the Aurora Culture Arts District (ACAD). On April 6th, Denver Community was out supporting the 12th Annual Platte River Half Marathon & Buckhorn Exchange Relay. It was a beautiful day to be out in the community supporting a great cause. The Platte River Half Marathon and Buckhorn Exchange relay benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Runners ran along the Platte River Trail, starting from Downtown Littleton, and ending right in front of Denver's famous Buckhorn Exchange restaurant. Denver Community Credit Union was the proud Hotline Sponsor for the second year in a row of KYGO’s Christmas Crusade, a fantastic program that was organized in 1984 by a small group of “Santa Cops.” Each year sheriff and police officers across the metro area work to spread the joy of Christmas to thousands of underprivileged children. Officers meet and select these children during their work in their communities throughout the year. KYGO’s Christmas Crusade gave all of us the chance to help these "Santa Cops" bring joy into many households in our local area by donating toys or money to the cause.
This year, thanks to our wonderful members and people from the community, we were able to raise over $2,000 in addition to toy donations. All the donations go directly towards the purchase of toys and gifts for underprivileged children in the Denver Metro area.

This is just one example of how great credit union members and members of the community were at supporting the Christmas Crusade. This was just one example. Every donation no matter how large or small makes all the difference!
Denver Community Credit Union continually strives to be involved in our community. One way we participated with our community this month was by helping to sponsor the Colorado Anti-Violence Program's annual Rooting Down, Rising Up fundraiser, which was on October 22nd. The Colorado Anti-Violence Program has been dedicated for the past 27 years to ending violence within and against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities in Colorado by providing high quality services to survivors of violence. As a sponsor of the annual fundraiser, Denver Community Credit Union was able to reach out to over 250 guests at the sold out event.

Denver Community Credit Union was excited to be part of the Children's Miracle Network Miracle Marathon. Credit Unions Across Colorado helped sponsor the Marathon, which is a 27.2-day virtual fundraising in which participants run/walk (or achieve forward motion) one mile per day for 27 days. It started October 1st and ended October 27th, 2013. The final day was for the kids. All participants in the Miracle Marathon completed an extra mile at the same time on October 27th. The Miracle Marathon helps support our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital - Children's Hospital Colorado.
